Title: Regional Human Resource Generalist I
Department: Human Resources
Reports To: Refer to location organizational chart
SUMMARY: Responsible for completing tasks in the following functional areas: payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, training, onboarding, orientation, and policy implementation.
This position will sustain the Mission and Motto and Food Safety and Quality Statement of the Mennel Milling Company.
PRIMARY WORK SHIFT: Monday through Friday 8AM – 5PM.
Will vary, depending on workload.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with or without accommodation.
Follow all food and personal safety rules and regulations in respect to GMP’s, OSHA, HACCP, the Global Food Safety Initiative, the US FDA Food Safety Modernization Act as stated in the FS&Q Statement, and sanitation guidelines as set forth by the company as listed in Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and attend all required training sessions.
Maintain the department/facility in an everyday audit ready condition.
Payroll and benefits support: • Accurately maintains time and attendance system information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the time and attendance system and other systems as appropriate.
• Updates payroll records by entering changes to employee information including but not limited to, job title, department, transfers, and healthcare elections.
• Contact various timekeepers for any time keeping discrepancies.
• Compiles reports as needed for HR, compliance and leadership.
Recruiting and staffing support: • Assists with the recruiting, testing and interviewing programs; counseling managers on candidate selection; supporting onboarding efforts; conducting and analyzing exit interviews, extending job offers and recommending improvements to the process.
• Attends and assists with the coordinating of recruitment and community outreach events.
• Responds to potential candidates and employee inquiries within skill set and knowledge base; seeks assistance from the Corporate Talent team when necessary.
• Ensures the onboarding process is completed by all new hires including but not limited to the completion of tax forms, I-9 verification, and acknowledgement forms.
• Manages locations New Hire orientation supplies and paperwork.
• Assist locations with uniform assignments and changes, locker assignment and changes and new hire onboarding equipment (i.
e.
PPE) as needed.
Rewards and recognition programs: • Supports communication efforts to inform employees of benefit programs; includes conducting/organizing educational sessions related to the benefit programs as applicable.
• Assist in the planning of company recognition events.
Other administrative support: • Maintains employee files as outlined within the record retention policy, including but not limited to; personnel, workers compensation, and medical files.
• Processes incoming phone calls and distributes mail.
• Assist with HR related mailings.
• Assist with compiling related data and information to complete required reports; spreadsheets.
• Assigns 30/60/90 days reviews in ADP for employees, including new hires and internal transfers.
• Assists with reinforcement of companywide communications and/or presentations.
• Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform this job.
• An Associate’s Degree or equivalent required.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field preferred.
• A minimum of 2-5 years of Human Resources experience required.
• Ability to work a hybrid schedule.
• Permanently resides less than 60 miles from Mennel’s Logan Flour Mill facility.
• Knowledge and/or experience in payroll and benefits administration preferred.
• Strong skills in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
• Must have exceptional time management skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times and understand the intimacy needed for maintaining personnel files and other documents.
• Well spoken, articulate and courteous verbal, written and phone correspondence.
• Must have professional presence and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to travel up to 40%.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, memos, procedures, and plans.
Ability to write reports, complete checklists and other basic documentation and correspondence.
Ability to effectively and professionally present information or data in one-on-one and small group situations to co-workers, supervisors, and managers.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Must have ability to read and comprehend basic financial statements and other business related documents.
REASONING ABILITY: Must use common sense and solid judgment when making decisions.
Must have ability to quickly recognize and plan for rapidly moving and changing work schedules and event calendars.
