Posting Number 20165863S Job Description The Public Records Compliance Coordinator will coordinate the university’s response to public records requests in accordance with Ohio’s public records law, ORC 149.
43 et seq.
The public records compliance coordinator will also coordinate responses to subpoenas and other requests for records.
This position also provides key administrative support to the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, and performs a liaison function between university attorneys and the campus community.
*Note that any work that is considered the practice of law is performed under the supervision of attorneys.
Uses independent judgment to coordinate responses to public records requests in compliance with Ohio’s Public Records Law, ORC 149.
43 et seq, responses to subpoenas, and other requests for records in legal proceedings: interprets requests; works with departments throughout the university to gather records; prepares records for production, including redaction when necessary; delivers records and interacts with requestors when necessary; tracks requests and responses; maintains electronic files; and trains university employees regarding public records law requirements and procedures.
Supports the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel, ensuring effective and professional communication with internal clients, external community members, outside and opposing counsel, the Attorney General’s Office, court and government officials.
Provides strategic calendaring support, anticipating the scheduling needs of the General Counsel and Deputy General Counsel and effectively conserving time by soliciting and providing necessary information to ensure timely, thorough, and adequate preparation.
Provides general assistance to attorneys in the office on request by organizing meetings, preparing agendas; assembling data and preparing complex and/or confidential reports; organizing information and tracking confidential and sensitive case files; investigating facts and compiling information; and independently handling routine and non-routine inquiries and complaints.
Provides support for university policy development process and ongoing maintenance of the Policy Manual.
Provides staff support for Executive Staff Policy Committee.

3 and filing of policies with the Legislative Service Commission.
Responsible for development and maintenance of record-keeping systems; supervises student employees; other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s Degree with 2 years related work experience or High School Diploma/GED with 4 years related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications Paralegal training/certification.
Working knowledge of Ohio’s Sunshine laws and FERPA preferred.
Department Legal Affairs Office Pay Rate The target salary for this position is $51,838 ($24.
92 per hour).
The full salary range is $44,592 ($21.
44 per hour) to $74,196 ($35.
68 per hour).
Salary is commensurate with education and experience while also considering internal equity.
